When I was entrenched in my negative relationship with my not-so-great boss, I typically responded to her in 1 of three ways. 1) I soaked it in and then beat myself up, 2) I people-pleased my way through it, or 3) I raged at her inside my head.
What I NEVER did, was stand up for myself, and I fear that my silence was seen as acceptance.
What I could have done instead, though, was give voice to my concerns, set boundaries, and start saying no to her treatment of me.
In order to do that, though, I needed to feel confident.
